Yesterday Disney + released Pinocchio’s first teaser, a live-action 1940 classic. If we see a lot of Tom Hanks in Jeppeto and Jimini Cricket, the main stake is the lack of subscribers.
Disney continues to work on adapting the live action of its great classics. After John Favreau’s “The Lion King”, Nicky Caro’s “Mulan” and Tim Burton’s “Dumbo”, it was Robert Zemeckis who led Disney’s new adaptation with Pinocchio.
This is an opportunity to discover Tom Hanks – whom we see a lot in this first teaser – in the role of Jepetto, in the role of a toy maker who wants his creature, a wooden doll, to come to life and become a real child to him. At the same time, we find Cynthia Erivo in the role of the blue fairy who fulfills her wish.
Pinocchio is portrayed by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, but he is not humanized in this live-action version. Remains a wooden doll. As for Jimini Cricket, it is duplicated by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. We also discover a new character, Sophie Tolia, voiced by Lorraine Braco. But we can also see Kigan-Michael Ki, Luke Evans, Kiane Lamaia, Giuseppe Batiston and Levin Lloyd.
However, we can not help but notice that there is a big omission in this teaser. Pinocchio himself! We see a little boy in the form of a wooden doll, only at the bottom and back … Maybe Disney will show him in more detail in the official trailer.
In the meantime, meet on September 8 at Disney + to discover Pinocchio.
