Que viva Mexico! The 2023 edition of the Annecy Festival will take on the colors of Mexico. While paying tribute to local entertainment, several prestigious guests will attend the Venice of the Alps to participate in panels and meet the public.
This is especially true for filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (this year’s Oscar winner for Best Animated Feature for his Pinocchio), as well as his compatriots Jorge R. In the case of Gutierrez and Sofia Alexander.
The biggest American studios are also in Annecy to present their new productions. Noteworthy is Netflix showing the highly anticipated Nimona, but also Disney airing the new Pixar Elementary and the first images of Wish among the celebrations organized for the studio’s centennial.
Fans of the Lord of the Rings universe will discover the first images of the animated film War of the Rohirrim this year, while fans of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will discover a new feature film for the franchise.
While Japanese animation will be proudly represented with two films in competition (The Lonely Castle in the Mirror and Tunnel to Summer) and many previews, French creators will also be honored.
Festival goers will thus have the pleasure of discovering in the opening film this Sunday, June 10, Sirocco and the Kingdom of Airstream, but also Mars Express, Linda Wants Chicken! and Les Inséparables, as well as the first pictures Migrations.
Which film will receive the Crystal for Best Feature Film on Saturday, June 17, which was awarded last year to Patti Nicolas: What Are We Waiting For?
