It’s an anniversary that very few series can boast in its lifetime. Launched in 2003 on the US channel CBS, NCIS: Special Investigations was broadcast on Monday 27 February in the US for the 450th episode of the detective series, which airs this Saturday 10 June on M6.
In episode 15 of season 20, titled “in the prime of life“(“unusual suspects” in the original version), NCIS agents investigate the murder of a quartermaster who was registered on a site that connected elderly people with young people in order to maintain their relationship with them. Parker (Gary Cole) secretly sends his father, who lives with him temporarily, to a nursing home where the victim worked with several residents.
The series with a record duration
he asked Entertainment Weekly During the broadcast of this anniversary episode, Sean Murray, McGee’s interpreter, returned to the reasons behind NCIS’s record-breaking run.
“I think people take themselves too seriously in many procedurals. Let’s have a little more fun. And then we’ve been around a long time, so people have come to know our characters, love them, and protect them.”
A good atmosphere that explains the attachment that the audience has to the series, which has already been renewed for the twenty-first episode.
The evolution of survival
Over the years and seasons, NCIS has seen many milestones, the most recent of course being the farewell of Mark Harmon, aka Gibbs, during season 19. Thus, Sean Murray became the oldest actor of the detective series. And in almost 20 years, his character has evolved a lot, from a young rookie who feels bad to an experienced inspector. An evolution that delights its interpreter.
“He is definitely more confident than before and can do a lot of things than before.” he explained before adding “I think it’s really cool that you played the same character for over 20 years. I don’t think there are many actors who have had the privilege of doing that.”
“I remember talking to the writers about it very early on. I didn’t want to be the same character every week and never develop. And they were very committed to character growth. So it’s just natural and fun.”
Catch episode 450 of NCIS this Saturday, June 10 from 9.55pm on M6.
