Vasco equals its worst winless streak in the history of the Brazilian league

Cruz-Maltino is the penultimate finisher of the 2023 Brasileirão Championship

Vasco continues his lack of victories in the Brazilian championship. This Sunday, in Beira-Rio, Cruz-Maltino was beaten by Internacional 2-1 and continued in the penultimate place of the competition with just six points. The team’s only triumph this Série A season came on their debut against Atlético Mineiro in Mineirão. Since then, they have gone nine games without a win, the worst streak ever in the Brasileirão.

In the Brazilian’s history, the São Januário team has already gone nine rounds without winning in three other editions: 2008, 2015 and 2020. And in all of them they ended up relegated at the end of the contest.

With six points from ten games, Vasco have the worst start in the Brasileirão of the consecutive points era. Worse, even, than in the years in which it fell to the second division.

The team led by coach Maurício Barbieri will only return to the field on the 22nd, in São Januário, to receive Goiás. Esmeraldino is also currently in the fight against relegation, occupying 17th place with just eight points earned.
