Marvel released Friday (9) the trailer for the much-anticipated documentary about the life and career of Stan Lee, a comic artist who played a key role in the trajectory of the studio. Directed by David Gelb, the biopic will hit Disney+ on June 16.

Stan Lee and the evolution of Marvel

With other writers such as Jack Kirby, Stan Lee was responsible for creating most of today’s beloved Marvel heroes such as Spider-Man (Marvel’s most successful), Iron Man, X-Men, The Avengers, Hulk, Thor, Daredevil , Doctor Strange, Fantastic Four and Black Panther.

Marvel’s transformation into one of the largest and most respected publishers of comics has the writer’s name as a major pillar.

It was also he who took the first step to change the presentation of superheroes, which were previously represented in a more rigid and perfect way. From a new perspective, Lee added an imperfect humanity, changing the ideal archetypes and bringing the characters to “real life”. Along with Kirby, he also added new life to 1940s characters like Namor and Captain America.

Between these and other changes, innovations and ideas introduced by Lee, the Marvel revolution has taken on gigantic proportions, giving birth to loyal communities of fans. The whole movement also gave the writer other important positions, such as producer, director, screenwriter, etc. He was soon involved in the adaptations of the comics to the cinema as well, and becoming even more connected to the universe that he built with his famous participations of him.
