The rapporteur for the nomination of Cristiano Zanin to the Senate, Veneziano Vital do Rêgo (MDB-PB), read this Thursday 15 at the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) the opinion in favor of the admission of the lawyer’s name to the vacant position at the the Federal Supreme Court (STF). In the text, the senator discusses the candidate’s curriculum from President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), comments on each area of expertise of the lawyer and classifies the content as “valuable experiences”.
“I will take into consideration the indication of Dr. Cristiano Zanin from his academic training at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), where he graduated in 1999, and from there he decided to consolidate his vocation in the legal profession , not without first living, as an intern at the Public Prosecutor of São Paulo and in the Judiciary of São Paulo, experiences that gave him valuable experiences,” Veneziano said in the document.
From the text it is also clear that “the versatility and breadth in the various branches of law” guaranteed Zanin “professional recognition” both by lawyers and by magistrates and public prosecutors. Furthermore, the rapporteur classifies the lawyer’s performance as “solid and vigorous”.
Zanin’s sabbath will be next Wednesday, the 21st, at the CCJ of the Senate. Since the date was announced, the lawyer has launched a race to quash any resistance to his name and mend support. In the last week he has participated in various talks with representatives of the evangelical bench and performed the ritual of “kissing the hand” of parliamentarians.
Supports
So far Zanin has obtained the support of the Mdb college, made up of ten senators, and part of the PSD college, with 12 favorable parliamentarians. As shown the StadiumSenator Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), president of the CCJ of the Senate, sees the approval of Lula’s lawyer as “transmitted”, that is, already taken for granted.
To assume the seat in the STF, Zanin will go through two voting processes. The first is at the CCJ, where he must obtain the favorable votes of the majority of the MPs present. In the Senate, the lawyer must get at least 41 votes in favor of him.
