President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva participates this Friday, 16, in the ceremony for the completion of the works of the North-South Railway, in Goiás. The conclusion allows three states – Goiás, Mato Grosso and Minas Gerais – with a strong production of goods, to have their products transported by sea.
According to the official agenda of the Presidency of the Republic, Lula leaves Brasilia for Rio Verde, Goiás, at 10:00, with arrival scheduled for 11:00. At 11:20, the CEO will visit the City Road and Rail Terminal.
At 12:00 the completion ceremony of the works of the North-South Railway is scheduled. The railway connects the ports of Itaqui, in Maranhão, and Santos, in São Paulo, and will accelerate the development of the Midwest region, which is essential for agriculture and livestock. Initiated in the 1980s, the project has a railway network of 2,257 kilometers and crosses four regions.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by the Minister of Transport, Renan Filho, as well as representatives of the company responsible for the delivery of the terminal and the federal, state and municipal authorities.
Immediately afterwards Lula will head to Brasilia, with departure scheduled for 2 pm and arrival at 3 pm in the federal capital. There are no more official timetables after your return.
