Round 6 could have one more protagonist in season 2; see who it is

According to Soompi’s information, the second season of Round 6 (Squid game), one of Netflix’s most popular non-English-language series, may have already found its next lead, who will probably star opposite the already well-known Lee Jung-jae (Gi-hun). According to the portal, the actor and singer Im Siwan will be the new entry in the series, as negotiations are advanced.

A South Korean, Siwan is best known for his singing career in the K-Pop genre, but he also works as an actor and even a TV presenter. At the age of 34, he is a member of the boy group ZE:A and has acted in films such as In the direction of love (2021), I do not want to do anything (2022) and, in the more recent one, In the palm of your handthriller released on Netflix in February of this year.

When asked about the rumor, a Netflix source in Korea did not directly confirm the information and asked for understanding due to lack of details.

We ask for your understanding that we cannot confirm the cast of Squid Game Season 2 at this time.

Kept under wraps, little is known about the plot or cast of Season 2 of Round 6. In February, however, Jung-jae, the series’ lead actor, revealed that recordings for the next stage of production would begin between June and September of this year. The actor also said that filming is expected to last until 2024, with a total filming time of around 10 months.

At the time, he even revealed that the plot could revolve around him and Lee Byung-hun, who plays the series’ mysterious Front Man, the big boss who controls the games from behind the scenes.

It’s unknown, of course, who will play Siwan – a villain or a key player in Gi-hun’s team – but, for those who forget (and can now speculate about the future of the series), the first season has concluded with the main character wanting revenge and an end to sadistic survival games for money.

While it’s not known for certain when filming will begin or when it will be released, rumors point to the premiere of the second season will take place in the middle of the second half of 2024.

Round 6 took home two Emmy Awards: Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, for Jung-jae to win (he became the first Asian actor to win an Emmy) and Outstanding Director in a Drama Series (for Hwang Dong-hyuk ).
