If we clearly have the right “I’m Batman / I’m Batman” Quite predictably, two other sentences from The Flash directly refer to Michael Keaton’s first film version of The Dark Knight:
– “You want crazy? Let’s play!” A.K “You want to get nuts? Let’s get nuts!” in OV. The line is reminiscent of the scene in Vicki Vale’s apartment when the Joker is holding a young woman captive, and Bruce Wayne confronts him, smashing a vase with a poker in a confident gesture (before being shot by the psychopathic clown).
– “How much do you weigh?” https://www.allocine.fr/”How much do you weigh?” : When Batman tries to operate the elevator to get Supergirl out of the Russian base, we can hear this line already being heard in Burton. In the 1989 film, the Dark Knight asks Vicky Vale this question before he stops a bat-fight with her.
A reference to the Joker
Michael Keaton’s Batman went up against the Penguin and the woman, but also Jack Nicholson’s interpretation of the Joker. In The Flash, we see a reference to this period with the appearance of the famous mechanical prosthesis already seen in the Tim Burton film.
Atop Gotham Temple, Batman confronts the Joker and with a beautiful right hand, he knocks him to the ground, causing him to bleed out. The clown grabs his jaw and sends the bloody, mechanical prosthetics to the floor, which even gets a close-up of him! He then takes advantage of this diversion to hit himself in the chest while alert…and injures himself badly by colliding with the armor.
A wink of the moon
Although the Batmobile appears in Flash’s single-player adventures, it is not used to make more room for the Batwing. The Dark Knight’s plane plays a major role in the film, as it is with him that Bruce Wayne bombs General Zod’s troops and allows the two Flashes to arrive at the scene of the battle in time.
Batwing gives himself a token blueprint
In the film, we see the iconic flight plan of the Batwing until it is placed on the moon to create the Batman logo (the bat in a light background). This logo is also used for the famous Bat-signal, which is located on the roof of Gotham and is regularly activated in the comics by Commissioner Gordon.

In The Flash, we can hear Danny Elfman’s famous theme, which later became the credits of the Batman series in 1992. That said, it has been remixed into a new composition by Benjamin Wallfis, who signs the Flash music and is also the composer of the Shazam soundtrack! But there are two parts to it.

Batcave and Wayne Mansion
At the time, Anton Furst used models and matte painting techniques to create the entire cave, while production designer Dominic Capon of The Flash worked on a 3D rendering of the Batcave from Burton’s film.
The construction of the mud pit lasted for three months, covering almost 2900 m2 of the set. 3D landscape measuring 60m long, 40m wide and 14m high and fully built. In the movie universe, Batman retired in 1999, so the Batcave’s technologies are at a standstill at this time.
Therefore, the set decoration team found buttons, levers and knobs from old airplane control boxes to create the console, while the props designers created all the other elements from scratch. The waterfall you see there was created from scratch.
As for Wayne’s Mansion, it’s actually – if you can say so – a compilation of several real mansions:
- Knebworth House, which serves as the gothic entrance gate to Tim Burton’s Batman
- Burghley House provided the exterior, including the roofs.
- Hatfield House served as an armory and library serving as Bruce Wayne’s office.
The rest was created in the studio.
