Warning – The following article may contain spoilers as some plot elements of “The Flash” are discussed. including some twists and turns. So please go ahead if you haven’t seen a DC movie yet.
This is it (soon) over. On December 20th, if all goes well, Aquaman and Lost Kingdom will complete the DC universe that has been developing on the big screen since 2013 and the release of Man of Steel, which James Gunn and Peter Safran have taken over to create a new film. version. The first credits of which will be released in 2025.
In the king of the shared universe, where what is announced as a post-generic scene sometimes generates more enthusiasm than the film itself, this murky future may be the problem for which Shazam 2 paid the price at the box office. But the case of Flash is different. Because it’s inspired by comics “Smile” Having given the publisher a reboot in 2011, the film could help Warner and DC Studios do the same.
Reload the rock
In Andy Muschietti’s film, Barry Allen goes back in time to change the past and save his mother. He doesn’t suspect for a moment the consequences of this in the present, where he finds himself with a double of himself and a Batman with Michael Keaton’s features, not Ben Affleck’s. A story of temporal paradoxes that allows James Gunn and Peter Safran to keep some elements and remove others, instead of a radical reboot.
If we suspect the box office will have a say in the matter, The Flash may be one of the survivors and all will turn out well: variety It is claimed that the script for the sequel has already been written and will notably see the return of Michael Keaton (Batman) and Sasha Kale (Supergirl). And Ezra Miller, whose dodgy attitude and legal setbacks almost made the project better?
“If there’s a sequel, yes”– says director Andy Muschietti. “I don’t think anyone can play the character as well as they do. The other versions of the character are great, but they excelled in that particular vision.” Here too, the box office may have an impact, and the project is currently looking cool according to Variety.
Is Michael Keaton back in the sequel?
We’ll probably have to wait a few weeks or months (until San Diego Comic-Con in late July?) to find out more. But in the meantime, who would be the perfect villain for the sequel? We put the question to Andy Muschietti, who brought it back to us, among others. To which we replied that Zoom, seen in The Flash Season 2, would be perfect. And not only because the interview was conducted on video, thanks to the application of the same name.
But the director clearly has another idea in his head. And this is completely logical: “The question mark surrounding Nora Allen’s killer is that no matter what the sequel is, we’re going to have to introduce Reverse-Flash. But I’m not relying on anything to say that, it’s just a guess. Maybe.”

Reverse-Flash in the comics
Real name Eobard Thawne, Reverse-Flash lives in the 22nd century and his obsession with the world’s fastest man leads him to acquire the same powers and go back in time. But also to kill Barry’s mother in the events narrated “Smile”. This reinforces his status as the hero’s sworn enemy.
Will we learn Barry’s tragic past and the reasons for his mother’s murder? With this team or another? Hopefully the answers will come sooner than the feature film currently in theaters, which was first announced in October 2014.
