Netflix has released a teaser for the highly anticipated second season of ‘Round 6’. Revealed live during Tudum, a global fan event, the preview revealed returning survivors from the inaugural season and introduced new contestants to the Fatal Games.

Released in September 2021, “Squid Game” has become a pop culture phenomenon. The series created by Hwang Dong-hyuk and starring Lee Jung-jae involved a deadly game with 456 participants from various backgrounds, but all with substantial debts. They competed for a prize pool of 45.6 billion won (South Korean currency), facing children’s games with lethal consequences.

A new focus and returning characters

Season 1 ended with a taste of things to come when the main character, Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae), decides not to get on a plane to see his daughter, but rather to end the games awful. . Hwang Dong-hyuk, the creator of the series, has hinted what to expect from the new episodes and how he will change the character of Seong Gi-hun. “The biggest change will be in character [de Lee Jung-jae]he explained. ‘Because he’s a different guy in season two. He’s dyed his hair red and he’s gotten more serious, he’s looking for revenge, so his character is going to be totally different.”

In addition to following a transformed Seong Gi-hun, the new season will also focus on the mysterious The Front Man, played by Lee Byung-hun. “While writing season 1, I was thinking about stories that could be in season 2 — one of them would be the story of Frontman,” creator Hwang Dong-hyuk revealed.

The news from the cast

Also returning are Wi Ha-jun as Hwang Jun-Ho and Gong Yoo as the gambler, who solicits candidates in public places.

New characters may be unknown, but their performers are not. They can be seen in other Netflix K-dramas. The reinforcements are: Yim Si-wan (“Summer Strike”), Kang Ha-neul (“Forever Camellia”), Park Sung-hoon (“The Lesson”) and Yang Dong-guen (“Cheer Up”).

Interestingly, only male actors were featured, despite the success of the first year female lead, played by Hoyeon. There will be new players who will compete for the top prize.

Still with no premiere date, expectations for the return of “Squid Game” are still high, especially with the promised plot of revenge and violence.
