The rich pay huge sums to have unique experiences
Since Sunday 18, searches have been underway in the North Atlantic Ocean for a small submarine carrying five people who intended to visit the wreck of the Titanic. This, however, is not the only “eccentric” outing that millionaires around the world undergo.
To see the wreck of the Titanic aboard the Titan submarine, operated by OceanGate, passengers had to spend 250,000 euros (about BRL 1.3 million). The journey was supposed to take eight days.
On board are multi-millionaire Hamish Harding, 58; Stockton Rush, founder of OceanGate; Paul-Henry Nargeolet, former commander of the French Navy; Shahzada Dawood, Pakistani businessman and his son, Suleman Dawood.

space travel
If Titan had the goal of reaching one of the deepest points on the planet, at a depth of 3,800 meters, the goal of Elon Musk was to get his crew off Earth, literally.
In September 2021, SpaceX completed the voyage of the first mission to bring civilians into Earth orbit. The mission was attended by four passengers: Jared Isaacman (38-year-old billionaire, founder of payment company Shift4 Payments), Hayley Arceneaux (29-year-old bone cancer survivor), Chris Sembroski (42-year-old Air Force doctor of veteran) and Sian Proctor (51-year-old geologist).
Isaacman paid for all seats on the flight, but the amount paid was not disclosed.
There is, however, a “waiting queue” for a Virgin Galactic space trip, which belongs to tycoon Richard Branson, who has flown flights to visit the limits of planet Earth in 2021.
Anyone wishing to join the queue will have to shell out US$250,000, the equivalent of about BRL 1.3 million at the current rate. In this ‘waiting room’ are famous names such as Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and even Elon Musk, who owns competitor SpaceX.
Around the world
On Earth, millionaires can pay about $90,000 (BRL 450 thousand), to stay three years within a cruise that promises to cross 136 countries.

The script released by Life at Sea cruises it crosses all the continents of the planet, including even the frozen Antarctica.
Prices start at US$30,000 (R$150,000) per year for the 12m² inside cabin and go up to US$110,000 (R$550,000) per year for the 30m² suite with large balcony. The cheapest cabins with windows cost $37,000 a year.
Although the values are communicated “per year”, only the complete trip can be purchased.
isolated island

If the goal of the rich is to have a heavenly place all to themselves, it is possible to rent entire islands at once.
The best known of these is the Cayo Espanto, Belize. The small island is accessible by boat and can be rented for US$10,000 (BRL 50 thousand) per day. For this amount, the millionaire has at his disposal a private chef, a butler and even a diving instructor.
