“Elementos,” Pixar’s new film, hit Brazilian theaters on June 15 and hasn’t gone as planned since then. So far, the film is the studio’s worst opening weekend since the release of the first ‘Toy Story’ in 1995.
Box office “Elements”.
“Elements” is not the only one
Pixar’s new production is not alone. In recent years, “The Good Dinosaur” (2015) and “Dois Irmãos: Uma Jornada Fantástica” (2020) also failed to reach their expected box office, grossing around US$39 million (R$186.9 million) in debut weekend in the United States.
“Lightyear,” an astronaut spin-off from “Toy Story,” despite grossing more than “Elements,” was another less successful than expected and disappointed the company.
What does this mean for Pixar?
Hope for 2Elements”
Not everything is bad, however: despite the low box office, Elements is doing well in specialized criticism, which could change its fate in the coming weeks.
Furthermore, Ratatouille also had a low opening in the summer of 2007, grossing $47 million in its first three days, but experienced a fundamental turnaround and had already grossed more than $623 million by the time it left theaters at the worldwide box office.
In the end there is hope Elements.
