The battle is fierce in the ranking of the most popular movies and series on Netflix. If Stranger Things season 4 took the top spot on the podium in the English-language category since its 2022 launch, Wednesday and Dahmer were close. But since the platform changed the calculation tool, it is now a series with Jenna Ortega taking the pole position.

The previous rating was based on hours watched in the first 28 days after the program was released. Now, Netflix is looking at how many subscribers have watched a title in its entirety over a 91-day (three-month) period. A way to see if a series has been completed in a distance. And in this game, Wednesday clearly stands out. Word of mouth and social media allowed it to go viral and become a hit within weeks.
If Wednesday took the top spot in the English-language series category, the calculation modification did not alter the hegemony of Squid Game, which today remains Netflix’s most-watched series in all languages combined.
