One day, Fred is ordered to check himself and a puzzling mess ensues.

Rotoscoping was used in The Double Man, making the characters and their world look like animation. However, the lines of the faces of the stars remain, Keanu Reeves is clearly recognizable, as are Robert Downey Jr. and Woody Harrelson. The gaze oscillates between deliberate alienation and clear realism. The style works as a sort of warning sign for the audience not to trust what they see. Nor the characters.
