Elementary 2: Is there a sequel to the Pixar film?

Elementary, the 27th feature film from the Pixar studio, hits theaters this Wednesday, June 21st. Directed by Peter Sohn, to whom we owe the haunting short film Passages Nuageux and Le Voyage d’Arlo, the film tells the love story between a small flame with a volcanic temperament and a flak of water.

In Element City, fire, water, earth and air live in the most perfect harmony. It is here that Flem, a fearless and quick-witted young woman, and Fleck, a sentimental and funny boy, live. Their friendship challenges Flemmi’s beliefs about the world they live in…

Has Pixar already planned a sequel to this feature film?

It’s not yet known if there will be a sequel, and it all depends on the film’s box office performance, although the first version of Elementary included a post-credits scene that hinted at a potential sequel. But the latter was eventually removed from the final version of the script.

Open page Direct, The film’s screenwriters John Hoberg and Kat Likell were asked about a potential sequel. Recall that at the end of the feature film, Fleck and Flem leave the elemental city Flem to follow his dream of becoming a glass sculptor.

Kat Likell then explains: “At some point, there had to be a post-credits scene. We found Flam and Fleck and they were the parents of the steam baby. That was the starting point for a possible sequel, and I fought for a long time to keep the scene where the artist even drew the baby, but in the end the idea didn’t stick.

Hoberg continues: “I think we were like, ‘OK, let’s release it somewhere…if the audience really responds to it, that’s going to be great.'” We are interested in how their story will develop.”

“I think there’s potentially more stories to tell about this family and the Element City universe.” Likel finally declares.

At the moment, we don’t know if Pixar Elementary plans to continue, but if the studio decides to start the project, the second opus will allow us to discover the famous steam baby.

And as the screenwriter points out, other movies set in Element City, only a small part of which we get to see in this movie, are quite possible, just like Pixar did. With the Vice Versa 2 coming 8 years later. The first movie.

However, if a second installment doesn’t see the light of day, Pixar could consider creating short films centered around Element City, following the example of what the studio did with Up and Carl’s Tryst, which were seen in the pre-launch program.
