The Politecnico di Milano was once again the best positioned in the country
Several Italian universities have risen or maintained the same position as last year in a ranking compiled by the British higher education consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
The 2024 edition of the QS World University Ranking once again saw the Politecnico di Milano as the Italian university with the highest score.
The Lombard school, which climbed 16 steps compared to the previous year, finished in position 123, the best result ever obtained by the college in this ranking. Followed by the Sapienza University of Rome (134th) and the University of Bologna (154th).
The University of Padua (219th) and the Polytechnic of Turin (252nd), also improving, complete the ranking of the top five universities in the country.
With 1,500 universities from 104 countries, the QS ranking is the only one that emphasizes employability and sustainability. The positions are based on the analysis of 17.5 million academic documents and the opinions of more than 240,000 professors and employers.
Overall, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) topped the rankings for the 12th time, followed by the universities of Cambridge and Oxford.
The University of São Paulo (USP) was one of the big surprises on the list, ranking 85th. With that, it became the first Brazilian college to secure a slot among the top 100 institutions. .
