Castro speaks in a parting tone: ‘If I leave, Botafogo will continue’

Luís Castro’s story at Botafogo seems ever closer to the end. While not confirming his departure for Al-Nassr, from Saudi Arabia, the Portuguese coach spoke in a parting tone, after the draw with Magallanes, this Thursday (29), for the Copa Sudamericana. The coach stated that he will comment on the future only this Friday, when he will meet again with the CEO of SAF alvinegra, John Textor.

Castro gave his version of the news circulated since the beginning of this Thursday, which reported his ‘yes’ to the Saudi proposal. The technician said that, as of Tuesday, when he had previously spoken with Textor, he had not yet received any offers. He hasn’t spoken to the leader since then, which will happen this Friday. However, the trend is that the offer of an annual salary of R$29 million will convince the coach to leave for Al-Nassr.

“I had a meeting with Textor on Tuesday. In it we talked about the moment of the club, the victory against Palmeiras, the next window and the interest of Al-Nassr. I communicated that I didn’t have an official offer at that moment. And we have decided to speak again after a meeting between my agent and my lawyer, so I will take a position only after. at this time, “he said, practically saying goodbye, in the sequence, responding to his feelings with the Botafogo:

“We love each other even from afar, I don’t need to be together if I belong to the family. Don’t mistreat the people who are part of this family. If I decide to leave tomorrow, I know the concept of family in Botafogo. There is one winning spirit and a team ready for all the battles ahead. If I leave, Botafogo will continue.”

Castro takes stock of his time at the club

Luís Castro, who arrived at Botafogo in the middle of last year, also spoke about the challenges he faced at the club. According to him, the work done was to recover an Alvinegro team that had just come out of Serie B and had various structural difficulties. But even so, the legacy seems to make the coach proud:

“My arrival was to organize the club, form a competitive squad so as to be able to fight for something more in the next few years. It’s a club that has just arrived from Serie B. We got to work. We adjusted the spaces for train, set up good changing rooms. We didn’t even have a canteen and we adapted it, we set up a space to control food. Today we have a renovated stadium, a team that continues to be in first place in the Brazilian league and that makes me happy, because it was everyone’s job.”
