Vinland Saga: This is the best Japanese anime of the moment, and we’ll explain why! [PODCAST]

Although Attack on Titan continues to prolong the fun with the final episode expected this fall, with the broadcast of the second part of the fourth season, part 3 (sic), another Japanese anime that never ceases to impress with the quality of its episodes.

Vinland Saga, which airs every week on Netflix and Crunchyroll, is definitely one of the most popular Japanese anime series of the moment. Makoto Yukimura’s manga adaptation (edited by Kurokawa) follows the adventures of Torfin, an Icelandic warrior driven by his desire to avenge his father’s killer.

The peculiarity of this series is the complexity of this story. Without the simplicity of a good-guys-vs-bad-guys storyline, Vinland Saga pits intrepid warriors in a Viking clan war loosely inspired by historical facts.

A series intended for an adult audience, due to the many scenes of violent battles, the anime immerses us in the horrors of war, but also in the workings of complex and surprising political intrigues. Victory is achieved not by muscle strength or the number of allies, but by intelligence.

The AlloCiné Animehameha podcast team is dedicating this week to an issue entirely dedicated to the Vinland Saga phenomenon. Two seasons are currently available on Netflix and Crunchyroll, with a third season coming soon!
