The Grupo Globo journalist dies at the age of 64


Gil Rocha was 64 years old and was director of journalism at CBN Curitiba




Sports journalist Gilberto Manoel Rocha, better known as Gil Rocha, died at the age of 64 last Friday, 30, after complications from surgery.

Throughout his career, the professional has worked in radio and television. He worked at RPC Curitiba, a subsidiary of Globo in Paraná for 33 years, and was one of the leaders in setting up Globo Esporte in the state.

Currently, Gil held the position of director of journalism at CBN Curitiba. The journalist was married to Ana Zimmerman, also a journalist from the PRC, and has three sons: Lucas, João and Pedro.

In an official note, Ratinho Júnior, governor of Paraná, mourned his death: “Gil was one of the great names of journalism in Paraná. He has participated in the main club successes in our state as a sports journalist, has been a point of reference on Brazilian television and currently commanded the CBN newscast. Possessor of a remarkable voice, he was a very generous person. May God comfort all the family during this difficult time.”
