Roberto Firmino was announced, this Tuesday (4), as a new signing for Al-Ahli, from Saudi Arabia. At 31, the Brazilian was free on the market after his contract with Liverpool failed to renew and is yet another European football star heading to the Arab world.
Before securing the striker on a free transfer, the Saudi club had also announced the arrival of former Chelsea goalkeeper Mendy.
Firmino was taken into consideration by Real Madrid, to make up for the departure of Karim Benzema, hired by Al-Ittihad, also from Saudi Arabia. However, the talks did not go ahead and the forward decided to sign with Al-Ahli.
At the same time, Al-Ahli plans to further strengthen its team. According to information from the European press, the Saudi club is looking to sign defensive midfielder Fernando from Sevilla and forward Mahrez from Manchester City.
