Quiz Series: Grey’s Anatomy or Emergency? Make a good choice!

When we talk about medical series, it is impossible not to mention Emergency and Grey’s Anatomy, two founding fictions of the genre, which are often compared to each other. If the first always took a more realistic tone, showing the economic and logistical reality of the Chicago emergency department, the second always took its much more “soap” side, the love stories of the characters being an integral part of the plot.

In 1994 Urgences appeared on American screens. Making realism a key word, the medical series very quickly managed to stand out from its consorts, garnering millions of viewers every week.

For 15 seasons, this fiction has been able to highlight powerful social issues that were often taboo in the 90s, such as HIV, homo-parenthood, deafness, euthanasia or the situation in Darfur.

More than 10 years after that successful run, ER faced new competition on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy with the arrival of another far more soapy medical series that continues to bring viewers together to this day.

Coming soon to its 20th season, the Shonda Rhimes-created fiction follows the adventures of Gray Sloan Memorial, a university hospital where many doctors thrive.

With disaster episodes that impressed and its themes still embedded in the news, Grey’s Anatomy has managed to stand the test of time and hold its hand in the palm of its hand for longevity against emergencies.
