After Freddie Mercury and Elvis, a movie about Bob Marley! Here are the first images from the 2024 biographical event

After a bohemian rhapsody tribute to Freddie Mercury, Rocketman, Elton John, Elvis and I Wanna Dance With Somebody, a biopic that follows Whitney Houston’s journey, here’s Bob Marley: One Love, the trailer of which has just been released.

Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Greene (The Williams Method), the film chronicles the life and career of Bob Marley, one of the most prolific artists in history, widely known for bringing reggae to life during his nearly 20-year career before his death in 1981. Cancer at the age of 36.

And it’s Kingsley Ben-Adre, already seen in Les Enquêtes de Véra, The OA, Peaky Blinders, High Fidelity and most recently in Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion, who plays the King of Reggae, while Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel, Die can Wait, The Female King) slips into the skin of Rita, Bob Marley’s wife.

The cast also includes James Norton (Mick Jagger), Jesse Killio (Norval Marley), Michael Gandolfini, Anthony Wells and Nadine Marshall.

Trailer, with the singer’s hits (“Jamin“and”speech“In particular”) shows the attempted assassination of Bob Marley, which took place in Jamaica on December 3, 1973. The Is This Love singer’s villa was invaded by 7 armed men before a concert planned by the latter.

Produced in partnership with the singer’s family, Bob Marley: One Love It will be released in theaters on January 10, 2024.

Note that in Bob Marley: Before Love, Kingsley Ben-Adre will appear in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie on July 19, in which he plays Kenny.
