Mission: Impossible 7 – Released on July 12th

Mission: Impossible 7
It was supposed to be the movie event of the summer of 2021. Then 2022. But this time will be right. Because Tom Cruise has found the only mission impossible for him: to brave the immediate impact of COVID on cinemas so that Ethan Hunt can delight us with new stunts. So we had to wait, but we’re almost there.
Jumping from the top of a cliff on a motorcycle, walking the streets of Rome with one hand, fighting a moving train… The star has outdone himself again in this opus, the first part of Christopher McQuarrie’s diptych, already in Rogue Nation and Fallout controls.
After saving the cinema thanks to Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise returns to the cover and also offers his services to the world, in this story again threatened by artificial intelligence and nuclear power. Fortunately, Ethan Hunt is there with his usual accomplices (Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg…), newcomer Hayley Atwell and her performance against Esai Morales or France’s Pomme Klementieff is perfect as the unpredictable femme fatale. Can’t wait for the rest… in June 2024.
Oppenheimer – Released July 19th

Oppenheimer
Is Oppenheimer a blockbuster? If we go back to the term’s original meaning, which refers to a bomb capable of blowing up a city block, the answer is yes. Because this biographical film signed by Christopher Nolan looks at the physicist whose work led to the birth of atomic weapons during World War II.
True, the English film director even went so far as to limit the use of digital effects as much as possible when staging the first nuclear test. And this sequence promises to be a big part of this feature film, carried by Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh or Matt Damon.
As in Dunkirk, Oppenheimer combines two temporalities: one in black and white, representing the subjective version of the story; With a second color, for the more subjective part. And no doubt time, Nolan’s favorite subject, will be a part of it. At least countless times.

Barbie – Released on July 19th

Barbie
Will summer be…pink? And for Barbie viewers, because Greta Gerwig’s film caused a worldwide shortage of the same color paint. Margot Robbie plays the famous doll who, in an existential crisis, decides to leave her colorful world and visit ours.
A variant of The Great Lego Adventure, with other plastic characters? We can only hope that Greta Gerwig (and her accomplice and co-writer Noah Baumbach) will surprise us, with a cast in which Ryan Gosling can finally reconnect with comedy in Kenny’s smooth skin.
The rest of the cast is insane, the soundtrack promises to be a blast, and the images revealed so far are truly hilarious. And if it was a summer hit there? Come on Barbie, let’s go to the party!

The Haunted Mansion – Releases July 26th

Haunted Palace
Haunted Manor at the Movies: Act II 19 years after the hilariously failed first attempt, Disney is giving one of its flagship attractions a second chance in an attempt to match the success of Pirates of the Caribbean. It will be in front of the camera of Justin Simien (Dear Whites), with pseudo-experts hired to hunt the ghosts of the house.
Along with Between Ghostbusters and Ghosts Against Ghosts, the cast includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Danny DeVito, Lakeith Stanfield, Jared Leto, Rosario Dawson, Owen Wilson and Tiffany Haddish. Only this. We won’t be on Insidious 5 levels in terms of horror, but if you’re shivering before The Haunted Manor, it might not just be a matter of conditioning.

In Very Troubled Waters – Released August 2nd

In very rough waters
The second year of the shark. If Jason Statham wasn’t put off by his first encounter with Megalodon in the middle of summer 2018, this new adventure might just make him want to dive in. Because this time, his character will find himself with several creatures and an army of ruthless bandits at the bottom of the sea.
If the first opus sinned with excessive seriousness and the desire to please the general public, in very turbulent waters, it seems that he wants to correct the situation with a big blow of the harpoons. There’s humor, there’s gore, and director Ben Wheatley knows how to make a blood-pumping, fun-filled thriller like Free Fire. Replace the shed with the seabed and the guns with big toy fishing gear and you’re all set to ride the wave of fun.
