Xuxa anticipates controversy over documentaries: “I became a sex symbol without even having sex”

The presenter Xuxa Meneghel gave an interview to the “Fantástico” program on Sunday evening (9/7), in which she opened her heart on the episodes that have marked her life and career, including the moments of harassment she suffered, in anticipation of the new series “Xuxa – O Documentário”, with artistic production by Pedro Bial, which will be available on Globoplay from next Thursday (13/7).

Commenting on the controversy of the film “Amor, Estranho Amor”, in which she starred at the age of 18, Xuxa said: “I became a sex symbol without even having sex.” At the same time, she recalled the abuse she suffered during her adolescence that greatly affected her early career. “They at the time [os homens do meio] spoke [que modelos eram] prostitutes. They came with a bundle of money. The harassment was a normal thing, as a model and a woman I was discovering myself. My head was in a knot,” she said.

He also recalled other traumatic episodes from his childhood. A screening of a scene from the documentary showed Xuxa visiting with her daughter Sasha at the house where she was abused at the age of 13. In the interview, she said it was the birth of her daughter that led her to report the abuse for the first time in 2012. “The fact that this person was alive made me say, ‘Enough, enough.’ It’s important. that I speak. that person doesn’t do it with anyone else”.

Reunion with Marlene Mattos

Another highlight of the documentary is his reunion with Marlene Mattos, a businesswoman with whom Xuxa worked for 14 years and with whom he broke up in 2002 due to professional differences. Since then, Xuxa has leveled accusations against the former businesswoman, who allegedly humiliated her and caused psychological damage. During the interview, the blonde admitted that reliving this episode was very painful.

“She touched a little box that I didn’t want to touch, but I had to go through it. It shocked me, she said she would do it all over again, it’s a sentence that marked the documentary too much,” said Xuxa.

Romance and motherhood

In the documentary, Xuxa also recalls his loves, including Pelé and Ayrton Senna, and talks about his current relationship with Junno Andrade. She comments that the production will help “clear a lot of things in people’s minds.” Furthermore, the program brings reflections on her relationship with her daughter, Sasha Meneghel Szafir.

“I wanted so much to be a mother. This thing of working with a child and coming home with no one was desperate. As a person, I improved a lot after he was born. You understand why I am such a happy person, I have this rare gem, this gift of God for me,” he said.

“They will discover me as I discovered myself”

“A lot of good and bad things happened to me to put in these boxes. Many people did things that I kept in these boxes, delivering them in the document was very important,” Xuxa reflected. According to the presenter, the documentary is an invitation to the public to discover her, just as she discovered herself during the recording process. “It’s not to honor me, it’s to show what I’ve been through,” she said.

“Sure, people won’t be able to see everything I’ve experienced, everything I’ve seen. But it will also be very important for people to see me differently, you know? Because I saw myself differently. After watching the whole documentary , I looked and said: ‘Damn! I’ve been through everything’, you know? I’ve won everything. I’m everything! It’s strong, it’s very strong,” he concluded.
