Defender Gil has spoken out for the first time after becoming a major target of the accusations from Corinthians fans. Not to mention, the defender made a post on his Instagram account.
“I’m working hard and improving so that in due time people can see how good I am,” the player wrote in the caption of a posted photo.
Last Friday (7th), Gil was stopped by Corinthians fans on their way back to the hotel where they were staying in Minas Gerais. One of the men present at the scene said the defender was “robbing” Timão. After a few words, the athlete ended up being removed from the penalty spot by Fagner.
The allegations against Gil escalated after Corinthians lost to América Mineiro last Wednesday (5) for the Copa do Brasil. The defender was unable to keep pace and blocked Juninho’s kick, which gave the Minas Gerais side victory in the first leg.
One episode that is also well remembered by fans is a comment the player made on Instagram recently. When asked when he was going to switch clubs, he said it wouldn’t take him long.
However, despite the mounting criticism and statement, Gil is one of Vanderlei Luxemburgo’s trusted men at Corinthians. The defender thus presents himself as the absolute owner of the coach and has already had all possible teammates: Bruno Méndez, Murillo and Caetano.
