The director of Barbie has confirmed about this huge Netflix project

Update: Now it’s official. Greta Gerwig, who is in news for her movie Barbie, is going to do two movies well.

Four years after Netflix announced its acquisition of the rights to the Chronicles of Narnia franchise, fans are still waiting. In the latest news, the American giant was looking for directors to direct the new adventures of Lucy, Edmund, Peter and Susan. According to the website What’s on NetflixGreta Gerwig was chosen to direct the first two films.

If this statement is to be believed, Netflix seems to want to start its franchise with feature films and not mini-series as one might have thought. And the desire to produce two in a row shows that the platform strongly believes in this project.

It must be said that the Chronicles of Narnia is a literary saga that needs no introduction. The adaptation of the first part, released in 2005, attracted 6 million viewers in French theaters and won 750 million green tickets worldwide.

If the next two don’t achieve the same success, there’s still a pool of fans waiting for Narnian and Telmarine to return to their screens.

As for Greta Gerwig, her participation in the saga is quite remarkable. The actress/director is more used to smaller independent productions (like Lady Bird), even if the young woman seems eager to tackle more ambitious projects lately (Dr. March’s Daughters).

His new movie Barbie, with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, is waiting in our theaters on July 19.
