Consciousness? Palmeiras have 18 days to seek reinforcements before the transfer window ends

Immediately after the elimination of Palmeiras from São Paulo in the Copa do Brasil, in the middle of the Allianz Parque, Anderson Barros exhaustively repeated the mantra of “conscience” in the press conference. Verdão’s sporting director spoke to the press after the negative result in the national knockout competition.

While acknowledging that Alviverde needed a defensive midfielder to make up the squad, the coach repeatedly mentioned “difficulties” in making such a signing. The care given to the project born before his arrival at the club, according to Barros, also justifies the prudence on the progress of internal processes in the Palestinian club.

The problem, however, is that even the stopwatch is an enemy of Palmeiras.

The mid-year transfer window ends on 2 August, the day before the first duel against Atlético-MG for the Libertadores. Alviverde therefore has 18 days to complete some deals and strengthen the main squad – desire of Abel Ferreira and the fans.

It was Anderson Barros himself who underlined that the charge for reinforcements is not only external. Verdão’s director of football has revealed that the team’s coach is pressuring new signings to join the team.

In 2023, it is worth remembering, Palmeiras only hired Richard Ríos and Artur, while, in this mid-year window, they lost Giovani, Bruno Tabata, Vinicius Silvestre and Rafael Navarro.

The elimination in the Copa do Brasil did not change Alviverde’s intentions, because, as Barros said. The ‘trauma’ of the errors in the negotiations and the fact that the previous agreements, in that same year, had not gone ahead were reverberated in the Palestinian club.
