The Brazilian women’s team will have one last challenge before their debut in the World Cup. The team continues to prepare for the tournament and this Monday will face Queensland State U-15 men’s selection. The ball rolls around at about 3pm local time on the Royal Pines field.
Eight days before the competition debut, coach Pia Sundhage led the women’s team’s penultimate training session on the Gold Coast. The Swede took the opportunity to hit the team with an 11-on-11 duel before playing a 4-on-4 match on a reduced pitch.
Midfielder Duda Sampaio, in his first World Cup, underlined the importance of the training done so far in Australia. This Sunday, the cast completed 13 days of campaign work.
“It is important for us to keep Pia’s work always at the top. Of course, taking advantage of these moments now, closer than ever to the Cup, to further improve the game model, everyone should keep this in mind, and every day we are more prepared and closer to our goal”, highlighted the athlete.
The midfielder added: “Being here every day is a different learning experience, living with athletes who play high-level football outside of Brazil. The exchange is very positive, I learn from them every day. The competition is even more enriching.” .
The last work of the Brazilian team in Gold Coast takes place this Tuesday 18th. After the end of the last activity, the group will go directly to Brisbane, where Brazil’s headquarters are located in this first phase of the Women’s World Cup.
Brazil is in Group F of the Women’s World Cup, along with Panama, France and Jamaica. The debut will take place on July 24, at 8 in the morning (Brasilia time), against the Panamanians.
