Barbie it’s not even out in theaters and is already setting records. After pre-sale tickets for the film became the biggest of 2023 on Input.com, one of the largest affiliate websites in Brazil, Warner Bros. announced that it had also won a similar title, resulting in the biggest pre-sale of tickets in the history of the study in the country.
Directed by Greta Gerwig, Barbie is a live-action of the two most famous puppets in the world. Starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the film follows a journey with Barbie and Ken beyond the walls of Barbieland, the couple’s homeland.
In addition to the aforementioned protagonists, Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Michael Cera (Juno), Issa Rae (Insecure), Kate McKinnon (Ghostbusters), Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton), Emma Mackey (Sex Education), John Cena (Fast and Furious), Will Ferrell (Leprechaun in New York), and even Dua Lipa all play other versions of Barbie and Ken dolls.
Success all around Barbie it’s a surprise for the actors too – Robbie said in an interview with Reuters that he didn’t expect the film’s repercussions. This Tuesday (18th), Google also got into the hype and added an automatic effect to the site which, when you enter the name Barbie in the search field, activates a pink background with pink flashes.
