Director Todd Phillips has officially confirmed that a Warner Bros. sequel is officially in production.
The information was confirmed by the director through a sequence of photos on his Instagram, in which he even reveals the title of the sequel to the 2019 film: “Joker: Folie à Deux”. In the next photo, Phillips shows Joaquin Phoenix himself, the protagonist who plays the Joker, reading the script for the new film.
“Folie à Deux”, which seems to be the subtitle chosen for the new film, is about a phenomenon in which two or more individuals experience the same or a similar mental disorder among themselves.
In the first image we can see that the script is signed by Scott Silver and Todd Phillips himself, and that it appears to have finished on May 18th this year.
The licensing of the sequel from Warner Bros. comes as no surprise. “Joker,” released in 2019, grossed over $ 1 billion globally at the box office, making it the highest-grossing DC film in history. In addition to being an audience success, the film won an Oscar for Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix and received critical approval.
The “Joker” sequel does not yet have an announced release date or further details revealed.
