Since last Wednesday, TF1 has been broadcasting Doc Season 2, the medical series of events hosted by Luca Argentero.
If the first season focused on Andrea Fantis and her ability to resume medical practice after her devastating accident, this new explosion of episodes takes viewers into the post-Covid world, where each doctor will have to rebuild their lives after this catastrophe. Tragedy.
Regarding the second season show, Pierpaolo Spollon, nicknamed Ricardo Bonvegna, an internal medicine specialist who touched many fans in the first season, tells us in detail about what awaits his character in the following episodes.
Alocine: In the first season, we learned that your character was amputated after an accident when he was a teenager. How did you prepare for this role? Why was playing such a character important to you?
Pierpaolo Spoloni : To prepare for the role of Ricardo, I was trying to meet a guy who had a problem similar to my character. I was able to ask him questions and track his relationship with others before and after losing his leg.
What I was most interested in was not how he was in his circle of friends, but how he behaved in the presence of people he did not know. And the hardest part is when you have to say such a thing to someone you like.
I also learned in his contact that disability does not come from the person who has this defect, but from the person who looks at it. It was something I wanted to convey to my character: Disability is born in the eyes of others.
What challenges will your character face in Season 2 of Doc?
In the first season, Ricardo’s difficulties lay in giving up his disability and the need for other doctors. But this season 2, the challenge is even bigger because he now has to deal with psychological problems that are the result of the situation we are currently experiencing, i.e. the Covid epidemic.
The second season of the series takes place in the post-Covid world. Why did the screenwriters choose to talk about post-Covid?
I think it’s a good idea that the authors chose to talk about Covid in the second season because that’s something we always hear. We are still bombarded with news on this topic.
The screenwriters were especially aware that the real consequences of the epidemic would come later. People had psychological scars. They also did not want to intoxicate people with Covid because it is a topic that occupies a large place in the media.
But they could not talk about it either. So they found a solution by talking about post-Covid, which made it possible to deal with the consequences of the epidemic so that people could identify it.
Doc has had great success in both Italy and France. Did you have any pressure or stress when you started filming the second season?
Yes, we were under a lot of pressure! We realized the importance of the series in the lives of viewers. As the main character, Luca Argentero delivered a speech before the start of filming.

He told us that we were living in a historic and important moment and that we were just doing so much more than the series. And that the only way to avoid stress was to focus on work. It was a bit of an Al Pacino moment on Sunday in Hell! (Laughter)
Ricardo’s character quickly became a fan favorite. Can you imagine a spin-off on it? And is that something you might be interested in?
There are a lot of jokes on this topic in Italy (Laughter). But I do not think so. Doc is a global series and I think it’s best for us all to continue together. And I do not think Ricardo would be an ideal character for a spin-off.
Your character will be in the middle of a love triangle during the second season. What will it be like for him? Did you enjoy playing this story?
This was my first! Usually, I play more with characters who do not have many chances in sentimental terms. It was amazing for me to have two girlfriends out of the ability to have one girlfriend (Laughter).
He finds himself in a stable relationship and here comes Carolina, who casts doubt on him. But I do not want to spoil you too much. The only thing I can tell you is that Ricardo is a character who is very traditional in the concept of a couple.
