Series Alien: Filming Begins Despite Strike, Here’s Why!

From this Wednesday, July 19th, the shooting of the TV series Alien has started in Thailand. This production, though American, begins when all-Hollywood comes to a standstill. Of course, due to economic reasons – delaying filming is expensive – the actors are already filming their scenes.

It’s Alex Lowther (The End of the F*cking World on Netflix) and Samuel Blenkin (Black Mirror). The two actors are of British descent and therefore do not belong to the Actors’ Union, which is concerned with the social movement SAG-AFTRA. Therefore, they have the right to work.

However, lead actress Sydney Chandler – Kyle Chandler’s daughter – can’t make it to the set until the strike ends. Media Deadline claims that British actors could be punished if they decide to strike in support of their American colleagues.

Three of the main actors are part of SAG-AFTRA. As a result, the entire shooting schedule was rearranged to last as long as possible without these actors.

In parallel with this project, a film is being prepared for the cinema. Directed by Fede Alvarez (the Evil Dead remake), the feature film is set to hit French cinemas on August 14, 2024.
