The civil police are investigating the death of a 4-year-old boy hospitalized in a health unit with signs of violence, this Friday 21, in Campo Grande, in the west area of Rio de Janeiro. According to the 35th Police Headquarters, the father claimed it was a fall, but the health care bulletin highlighted that the victim had purple spots on her body and swelling on her legs.
To the Earth, the management of the UPA (Emergency Care Unit) Campo Grande reported that the child was hospitalized on the 21st, at 10:54 am, in cardiorespiratory arrest. The victim was brought to the unit by his father and stepmother.
According to the management of the Emergency Department, resuscitation maneuvers were carried out without success. At 11:24, death was confirmed. The body was then forwarded to the IML (medical examiner establishment) and the PM was called for signs of possible domestic violence.
As reported by the command of the 40th Military Police Battalion (Campo Grande), the agents were called by a doctor in the department after the couple had been hospitalized at the UPA with the unconscious child.
“The minor showed signs of ill-treatment and, after carrying out the necessary medical procedures, the minor evolved until he died. Thus, the agents gave voice to the arrest of the minor’s father and stepmother, who were taken to the 35th DP (Campo Grande), where the facts were exposed”, the corporation communicated in a statement.
According to the Civil Police, the couple was reported in the act for the crime of ill-treatment with a fatal outcome.
