Extraordinary: Craving in the middle of a movie screening? This app can save your life!

John Wick 4 and its 2h50 (!!!) proudly displayed on the counter. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1? A run lasting 2h 43m for Tom Cruise. Oppenheimer? 3:01. And we are not talking about the duration of superhero movies, flirting with fun 2h20 / 2h30…

Even if you have arranged for the films to be shown in the theaters, it sometimes happens, unfortunately, that you have to leave your seat due to the constant desire, at the risk of missing an important sequence of the work. And by the way, disturb a few spectators by sneaking in from the adjacent row of seats…

But that was until we discovered an unusual and welcome app, Let Pei go, even though it has actually been around for 13 years. Its tagline couldn’t be clearer: “Because movie theaters don’t have a pause button”.

According to the site, the idea for this app came after watching Peter Jackson’s King Kong, which is over 3 hours long. “By the end of the movie, we were in agony with the urge to pee. So much so that we couldn’t enjoy it. All I could think was, ‘When is this monkey going to die so I can go to the men’s room?’ Writes the app creator, a former Microsoft developer who worked his way up through the X-Box division.

The idea is to give you 3-5 minute toilet breaks sent to you by silent reminders (vibrator) during the movies. Precisely placed alarms that will allow you not to miss the main sequence of the film.

“We’ll also let you know if there’s anything during or after the end credits that you need to wait for. No more waiting 8-10 minutes for anything! Better yet, you can now sit back with confidence while everyone leaves, knowing there’s more to come after the end credits.

Plus, the RunPee app gives you a synopsis of the first 3 minutes of most movies, just in case you’re running late.”

The app already has a database of 1,900 movies, across all genres, and is regularly updated by a team of mostly film critics who sometimes see works before their theatrical release. This is, for example, the updated film Oppenheimer, if you are ever afraid of duration.

RunPee is currently a free app available for download on the Apple App Store as well as Android.
