Sidney Prescott will not return to Woodsboro to face Ghostface… At least not yet.
Sidney Prescott Won’t Return to Woodsboro in ‘Scream 6’.
The actress Neve Campbell has issued a statement stating that he will not return to the slasher saga because he felt that “the offer that was presented to me did not match the value that I have brought to the franchise”.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be doing the next ‘Scream’ movie.‘” Campbell said. “As a woman, I’ve had to work very hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to ‘Scream.’ I felt that the offer that was presented to me was not equal to the value that I brought to the franchise. It has been a very difficult decision to move forward. To all my ‘Scream’ fans, I love you. You have always been incredibly supportive. I will always be grateful to you and what this franchise has given me over the last 25 years.”
Obviously, and although Campbell does not want to specify it, The problem is money. She a couple of years ago, in a talk with another “scream queen” as she is Jamie Lee Curtisalready dropped his fight for fair compensation.
Curtis, an icon in horror movies, admitted that she didn’t make much money from these types of movies. Campbell recalled her experience in ‘scream 3‘, when they deprived him of a part of the profits.
Since horror movies tend to have very tight budgets, it is customary to promise stars a percentage of box office earnings to compensate for the low salary. The problem comes later, when counting.
“There is always the promise of the back end,” Campbell told Curtis. “And then of course it drowns in advertising and costs and all the reasons why they’re like, ‘Oh, not really, we don’t make the kind of money that we claim we make in all the press, so no, I don’t have to give you that”. ‘Scream 6’ has a release date set for March 31, 2023and the surviving cast of ‘Scream 5’ will return in full, except for Campbell.
Hayden Panettiere He will also return after his appearance in the fourth installment of the saga.
