The conditions for BC to step up interest rate cuts are “quite difficult to achieve,” says the director

The conditions set by the Central Bank to possibly intensify the cuts in the base interest rate in the coming months are “quite difficult to achieve”, said the director of international affairs of autarky, Fernanda Guardado, on Tuesday, underlining that there will be surprises very substantial positives for this to happen.

At an XP-sponsored event, Guardado said the CB is very committed to the previously announced pace of easing, cutting the Selic by 0.50 points at upcoming meetings of the Monetary Policy Committee (Copom).
