Those who follow DC Studios head James Gunn know that his social networks are quite busy. He tends to be quite open to fans and has even been known to leave hints of what’s coming next in his posts. And now, a praise for a Wonder Woman graphic novel could hint at the inspiration for what’s to come in the upcoming streaming series. lost paradise.

- Superman secretly has one of Wonder Woman’s best abilities
In a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, Gunn wrote: “History it’s a breathtaking work of sequential art and one of the best things to come out of [DC] and comics in recent years. Required to [Kelly Sue DeConnick], [Phil Jimenez], [Gene Ha] AND [Nicola Scott] for this incredible experience”.

The three-issue series ran under DC’s Black Label imprint from November 2021 to December 2022. The graphic novel Story: the Amazons is described as a “Homeric epic of the lost history of the Amazons and the rise to power of Queen Hippolyta”, and features authorial narratives, with a closer connection between Diana Prince and the mythologies of mankind.
Why could this indicate an influence for the Wonder Woman TV series?
Well, first of all, it’s worth mentioning Story: the Amazons it was released almost two years ago. So, there would be no reason for Gunn to “dig” this comic out of thin air. To complete, this post follows the emergence of a rumor linking this same graphic novel to lost paradise.
For those who don’t remember, lost paradise was one of Gunn’s announced attractions when he took over DC Studios alongside Peter Safran. According to behind-the-scenes information, the TV series will use Story: the Amazons as the main reference in building a storyline that serves as a preview for Wonder Woman of the new DC Shared Universe (DCU).

Even though Gal Gadot mentioned it Wonder Woman 3 is in pre-production, still no official confirmation on the matter, also because, even if the actress continues to live in the Amazon, there will be changes in the status of Diana Prince within this new DCU.
So it’s entirely possible that the “game of Thrones on Themyscira,” as announced by Gunn and Safran earlier this year lost paradise based on Story: the Amazons. And all of that would serve as material to build a new Wonder Woman for the DCU. We follow.
