Rubro-Negro’s manager celebrates qualifying for the Copa do Brasil final

Leaving the Maracanã after Flamengo’s victory over Grêmio in the Copa do Brasil, the vice-president of football, Marcos Braz, commented on the confusion that occurred in training which ended with Gerson punching Varela in the face. The manager has declared that his position is compatible with that of the players in the squad and that he will not dwell on the subject.
– There’s no point in pressuring me. My position is the position of the players. Obviously it shouldn’t have happened, but the players are sure it was a ball dispute, a very close training session. This is what happened.
Marcos Braz also commented on a possible punishment for the two players, but preferred to celebrate Rubro-Negro’s ranking in the Copa do Brasil final. The football strongman started projecting the decision against São Paulo and revealed the importance of winning the competition title.
– Not yet (there will be a punishment). For now, we’ll celebrate one more ranking for a title decision. A national title that has a very great financial importance. Which is very important for the club, vacancy directly in Libertadores. It gives you a lot. That’s what matters. Have Flamengo trained for the next 30 days. It will be a beautiful final against a historic club. I think it will be a beautiful final for Brazilian football.
On 17 September Flamengo will take the field for the first leg of the Copa do Brasil final, while the second leg will be played on 24 September. The requests will still be defined in a draw, which does not yet have a date to be implemented.
