The highly anticipated Disney+ series, Percy Jackson and the Olympianswon an official teaser, showcasing new scenes from the production based on the work of famed author Rick Riordan, as well as finally announcing a premiere date.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians tells the amazing story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who is just beginning to realize his new godlike powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master thunderbolt.
With the help of his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to find him and restore order to Olympus.
The series stars Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth Chase) and Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood). Additionally, it features notable guest appearances from Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hermes), Megan Mullally (Alecto, or “Mrs. Dodds”), Toby Stephens (Poseidon), Virginia Kull (Sally Jackson), Jason Mantzoukas (Dionysus, or “Mr D”), Jay Duplass (Hades), Glynn Turman (Chiron or “Mr. Brunner”), the late Lance Reddick (Zeus), Adam Copeland (Ares), Charlie Bushnell (Luke Castellan), Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse La Rue ), Jessica Parker Kennedy (Medusa), Olivea Morton (Nancy Bobofit), Suzanne Cryer (Echidna), Timm Sharp (Gabe Ugliano) and Timothy Omundson (Hephaestus).
Riordan worked closely with the creative team and showrunners Jon Steinberg and Dan Shotz on the series, which, according to Disney+, stays true to his take on popular literary characters.
The first two episodes were written by Riordan and Steinberg and directed by James Bobin. Steinberg and Shotz are executive producers alongside Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Bert Salke, Gotham Group’s Jeremy Bell and DJ Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Monica Owusu-Breen, Anders Engström and Jet Wilkinson .
This is the second adaptation of the book series, with the first made into two films by 20th Century Studios, which weren’t quite as successful and failed to satisfy fans of the work.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians arrives on Disney+ on December 20, 2023.
