Cavani scores his first goal for Boca Juniors in a win over Platense for Argentina

Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani scored his first goal for Boca Juniors this Friday, making his debut in the Argentine league. At the Bombonera, Boca won with a score of 3 to 1, in the opening match of the second phase of the national tournament.

This was the second match for the Boca Juniors number 10, but the first for the Argentinian. His debut was in Boca’s qualification for the Libertadores quarterfinals. On this occasion, the Argentines beat Nacional-URU, 4-2 on penalties, after a draw in regular time.

Boca’s next match is Wednesday 23 August, when they will face Racing, at 21:30 (Brasilia time), in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores.

Boca Juniors took the lead in the 28th minute of the first half. Medina, in the middle of the field, sends a shot to Zeballos, who comes out in speed and grazes the goalkeeper’s exit, already far from his goal.

Cavani scored for Boca in the 10th minute of the second half, scoring his first goal for the team. Blondel activates Zeballos, free on the right, the player moves forward and crosses into the area, the goalkeeper tries to move away, but the ball falls on Cavani, who doesn’t forgive and heads into the back of the net.

At 16, Morgantini moved to Platense. However, in stoppage time, Medina scored the third and ensured the victory for Boca Juniors.
