Santos objective in this transfer window, Alexis Sánchez should define his future in the coming days. According to Inter director Giuseppe Marotta, the Chilean striker has asked to return to the Italian team of which he was champion in 2021.
“Alexis has sent us clear messages about his desire to return to play for Inter, that’s for sure,” said Marotta. According to the Gazzeta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri should focus on the 34-year-old, free on the transfer market since he left Olympique de Marseille.
Sánchez would be another reinforcement for Inter’s attack, which has lost Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku. The current Champions League finalist has already signed Marcus Thuram and Marko Arnautovic for the sector, and can deal with Argentinean Joaquín Correa.
The Chilean’s move to Inter lasted three seasons, between 2019 and 2022. Alexis Sánchez scored 20 goals in 109 games and lifted the Italian Championship cup in 2021, as well as the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa the following season.
The striker’s last defending club was Olympique de Marseille, from France, where he scored 18 goals and provided three assists in 44 games. At the end of the contract, Sánchez left the club and called interest from Santos. However, the salary request was too high and the negotiation did not go forward. “He has no chance,” said coach Diego Aguirre.
