Manon discovers traces of arsenic at Brunetti’s wine estate
Diego was taken to the hospital after his illness. He was severely dehydrated, but the teenager is now feeling better. From his symptoms, and especially the stomach pains he’s been feeling during the day, William thinks maybe gastro, but prefers to keep Diego for other tests, because he can’t completely rule out a poisoning route. Alex makes the connection with what happened to Bruno Paoletti, but William doesn’t think the two cases are connected. After all, Diego and Bruno don’t go to the same place or work in the same place.
Later, however, William confides in Manon that he is beginning to suspect that a bacteria, chemical contaminant, virus, or food chain contamination is at the root of what happened to Bruno and Diego. If this is confirmed, William fears that many other patients will arrive with the same symptoms.
Interviewed by her father, Manon then goes back to Luc Mesa’s deposits. He discovers that Florence, the winery manager, had similar symptoms to Paoletti and Diego before her death. Since Diego also works at the Vogrenier estate, Manon finds the coincidence a bit odd.
Nordin points out to her lover that Paoletti never worked there, but Manon notes that the construction site where Paoletti worked was very close to the winery. The two locations, which according to maps of basements found at the Geological Survey, share the same water.
Manon and Nordin then go to the estate and question Jack and Ryan. The two teenagers admit to feeling a little sick the previous week, but believe their condition was linked to bottles of expired wine they abused. Despite Nordin’s reluctance, Manon decides to visit the estate to collect samples. She thinks the property uses pesticides.
Manon discovers strange jars without labels and is about to take a sample when she is interrupted by Victor Brunet, who points out that she has no right to search without a demand letter and asks her to leave the premises. Fortunately, Manon, who was walking near the cans, has another idea. After getting into the car, he picks up some soil under his shoes, sure that there might be traces of chemicals there.
Back at the police station, Manon asks Damien to run some tests on the soil he just took from the wine estate. Damien is hesitant at first, reminding Manon that this is all without procedures. But when he learns that several people may have been poisoned, the forensic technician agrees to perform the requested analyses.
It doesn’t take long for Damien to discover that the sample contains a very high concentration of arsenic. According to Damien, arsenic poisoning explains all the symptoms described by Manon. Therefore, the young woman thinks that the brunette is responsible for the death of Florence Mesas.
Gilles falls in love with Raphael
Gilles goes to get coffee at the spoon and meets Chloe and Raphael. When he meets his niece’s best friend, Gilles is hypnotized. He misses all opportunities and can’t string two sentences together. Chloe invites him to join them, but Gilles prefers to run away. Rafaela, amused, points out to Chloe that her uncle looks funny, albeit somewhat shy. For Chloe, shyness is definitely not what characterizes Gilles. She does not recognize him and has a feeling that she has fallen in love with Rafael.
Once at the construction site of his house, Gilles begins humming, which does not escape Sylvain, who is under the impression that Marianne’s brother is in love. Gilles admits that he has fallen in love with a woman, but, according to him, she is too young and too good for him. Sylvain urges him to try his luck in spite of everything.
Gilles manages to get a professional meeting with Raphael. He goes to her office, offers her a bouquet of roses and says he needs her help to put up a verandah on his land. The lawyer emphasizes that urban planning law is not his specialty. Moreover, Raffaele is not deceived, he knows very well that Gilles is not really for the skills of a lawyer.
Throughout the day, Gilles admits he has a soft spot for her and invites her over for a drink. Rafael tells her that he already has someone in his life. Gilles asks if his companion knows how lucky he is. Raphael thinks so. Gilles refuses to leave and can’t wait, but then he finds Judith and continues to hang out with Raphael and Martin. He has trouble keeping his wits about him, much to Judith’s amusement.
