Inter Miami reduced the score with Campana, who headed Messi’s assist in the 23rd minute of the finals. Kubo scores the third goal for the hosts, but the VAR intercepts the Japanese’s hand touch.
Inter Miami pressed towards the end to try to equalize and Campana arrived dangerously, with a powerful shot over the goal, in the 37th minute. In the last minutes of the match, Messi shone once again, he gave a beautiful cross to the head of Campana, who scored only for the goal and took the match to extra time.
Extra time and penalties
With three minutes of extra time, Cincinnati misses an outing and Inter Miami takes advantage of it. Cremaschi steals the ball and passes it to MartÃnez, who beats Kann for third. Still in the first overtime, the home team came close to equalizing, with a header from Arias that exploded over the crossbar. The equalizer came seven minutes from time, with a strong shot from Kubo.
In the penalty shoot-out, Messi converted his shot, as did all of his teammates. Hagglund missed the penalty for Cincinnati and led the Florida team to decide. Inter Miami is now waiting for the opponent of the final, who comes out of the match between Houston Dynamo and Real Salt Lake.
