Palmeiras loses the starter in the return match against Deportivo Pereira in Libertadores

Palmeiras beat Deportivo Pereira 4-0, this Wednesday (23), in the first leg of the Libertadores quarterfinals and took the table to the semifinals of the competition. However, Abel Ferreira’s side went off the field with some embezzlement for the return match, at the Allianz Parque. It is about Gabriel Menino, who is suspended.

The only one left in the squad at this stage of the tournament, the defensive midfielder started in Palmeiras’ victory in Colombia after missing the last match with muscle pain.

In the second half, up 3-0, Abel Ferreira prepared the entries of Ríos and Artur for the departures of Menino and Dudu. However, the midfielder stalled so much to leave the field that he ended up getting the yellow card in what seemed premeditated.

With the admonition it is the third card for Menino and, consequently, his disqualification for the second leg of the quarter-finals. Since it is muscle pain, it is possible that the technical commission has thought of preserving it in the next duels.

Richard Ríos should therefore be the starter on Wednesday (30), at 21:30 (Brasilia time), at the Allianz Parque, in the clash that defines the semifinal standings of the Libertadores. Alviverde can lose up to three goals and will still play in the next phase of the tournament.
