Brasileira opens programming on court 17 from 12:00
After the victory in the battle of 2h56min, Beatriz Haddad Maia will try, this Wednesday, at 12h, an unprecedented vacancy in the third round of the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the year, held in New York.
The Brazilian number 19 in the world will open the program on court 17 against the American Taylor Townsend, ranked 132nd. It will be the second meeting between them. Townsend beat the Brazilian at the 2019 Miami qualifier in straight sets.
Bia defeated 36th-ranked American Sloane Stephens in the first round by 6/2 5/7 6/4 in a dramatic match while Townsend overcame France’s Varvara Gracheva by 6/4 6/2.
The match will be broadcast on ESPN 2 and also on Sportv 3.
