When archeology professor Michael Lovecraft, along with his students, embarks on an expedition to the Turkish-Armenian border to try to find prehistoric fossils there, he has no idea that the adventure will be much more educational than expected: in fact, not so far. At the excursion site, deep inside a long-extinct volcano, pterodactyl eggs have inexplicably started hatching again.

At the same time, a US Army commando roams the area with a mission to capture an enemy soldier.

Some films remain etched in the history of cinema for their memorable scenes, great actors or accurate screenplays. Others, commonly referred to as “regrets,” live on in the memories of Z Series enthusiasts for exactly the opposite reasons.

Regularly reviewed by our colleagues from the Nanarland site, these atypical and confusing feature films (such as Doc Savage Arrives, in which we literally hear the voice of Darth Vader speaking with a tongue in his hair) are often an opportunity to spend a minute. Having fun with friends, he did not discover the masterpiece of the seventh art. In this regard, Pterodactyl will not disappoint.

Mark L. This Lester feature film was billed as “the real Jurassic Park from the air” when it was released on video in 2005. Characters served by actors who are constantly on the sidelines and with dialogues worthy of carambari jokes, funny wings, romance (not so) impossible (only that), an incredible script and of course special effects that would give George Méliès nightmares.

Mainly created with devastating digital effects, more or less placed on green screen and sometimes with large claw-shaped poles (for the underwater attack scenes), the pterodactyls are clearly the stars of their film. But their bloody interventions, above all, will be your double, and this from the very first seconds of the film.

As for the human characters, who also include Captain Bergen (as Rapper Coolio) in their ranks, we note, first of all, their complete and astonishing inability (especially for apprentice archaeologists) to identify their prehistoric enemies, and then their differing strategies. , each one is funnier than the other.

For example, barricade yourself in an abandoned house and… immediately break all the windows, stay carefully covered throughout the movie, or even use a sheep weighted with a grenade to bait the pterodactyls.

Available on Amazon Prime Video, this movie is only 1 hour 29 minutes long, with a very good rating of 1,231 stars out of 5 by AlloCiné viewers, perfect if you want to change your mind with friends and enjoy yourself. Has a unique cinematic experience.
