Autumn is fast approaching. Festivals that accompany it: Venice has started, Toronto is getting ready and it’s Deauville’s turn to start its 49th edition. It was marked, as everywhere, by a strike of writers and actors, which paralyzed Hollywood for several weeks and somewhat disrupted the lineup of the event.
Before they were due to receive the tribute (also called the Deauville Talent Award), Natalie Portman, Jude Law, Peter Dinklage and Joseph Gordon-Levitt all canceled their visit in solidarity with the transatlantic movement. Not Britain’s Emilia Clarke, who will be presented with a new Hollywood prize, as part of the presentation of The Pod Generation.
Recently featured in the Marvel Secret Invasion series, the actor replaced Ryan Gosling, Anna de Armas, Jessica Chastain, Daniel Radcliffe or his Game of Thrones co-star Sophie Turner in the list of winners of this trophy, which was awarded to a rising star.
Emilia Clarke will be one of the few stars to grace the boards from September 1-10. But the visitors of the festival will have the opportunity to attend meetings with the directors, master classes or see the jury led by Guillaume Canet and Melanie Thierry. Apart from that, their schedule has been compiled among eighty films divided into eight categories. Follow the leader!
