One of the first major releases of A24 in theaters in 2023, beau is afraid it was so scary for Olivia Rodrigo that the singer had to “leave the movie theater” during the screening of the production directed by Ari Aster and starring Joaquin Phoenix.
in conversation with Phoebe Bridgers in terms of Interview Magazine, Rodrigo was asked if she is a fan of horror movies. “I’m a big thriller girl, but I watch a few horror movies here and there,” replied the artist.
“I convince myself that I see hauntings after returning home from watching Supernatural (2010) or something like that. Also, I watched that new movie by Ari Aster, Beau Is Afraidand I got really scared,” continued the singer.
I literally had to leave the movie theater. I’ve never had such a visceral reaction to a movie in my life. It felt like a bad acid trip.
Right away, Brigders agreed. “This is the scariest movie I’ve ever seen, but I was laughing the whole time,” she said. Then, Rodrigo added: “That’s the only reasonable reaction. Your body just can’t process it. You need to laugh.”
