Miyazaki: The glorious trailer for his latest Ghibli film, The Boy and the Heron

Expected to hit theaters on November 1st, Hayao Miyazaki’s new feature film The Boy and the Heron has unveiled its magical trailer full of the supernatural. These first pictures are in the purest style of the Japanese maestro, especially Princess Mononoke or Soul Far Away.

The story follows Mahito, an 11-year-old boy. After his mother disappears in a fire, he must leave Tokyo and go to the countryside where he grew up. He settles with his father in an old mansion located in a huge estate, where he meets a gray heron.

The latter gradually becomes his guide and helps him to understand the world around him and discover the secrets of life through discoveries and questions. Released in Japan on July 14, Boy and the Heron was seen by almost 5 million people.

The feature film tricked viewers into thinking they were “in a dream” by seeing “David Lynch Ghibli” in the film. These first thoughts made French fans tremble with impatience, who couldn’t wait for the release date in France.

Released in Japan on July 14, The Boy and the Heron drew 5 million viewers in the land of the rising sun. Therefore, its French release date is scheduled for November 1st. It will be screened in France at the Lumiere Festival in Lyon on Tuesday, October 17.

Note that The Boy and the Heron is a free adaptation of the novel And how will you live? Written by Genzaburo Yoshino and published in 1937.
